JOHN LANE 

John Lane is an Emmy Award–winning visual storyteller with extensive experience in news, sports, media relations, and higher education. He is known for creating artful, impactful video content on a daily basis, with strong expertise in non-linear editing across multiple platforms.

Before becoming a freelancer in 2019, John spent three years at The University of Texas at Arlington as Assistant Director for Multimedia. In that role, he produced and executed journalistic, documentary, and multimedia video content for presentations, websites, digital platforms, social media, and external media. His work highlighted the research, innovation, and achievements of faculty, staff, alumni, and students.

Prior to UTA, John spent 16 years as a Senior Photojournalist at WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, where he covered major local, national and international stories. 

Throughout his career, John has shot video for major networks including ABC News, NBC News, CNN, Fox News, and The Investigative Network. His client work also includes Exxon, Toyota, NCAA, Ozarka, TXU Energy, Southern Methodist University, The University of Texas System, and numerous media outlets across the United States.

His work has been recognized with awards from the Emmys, the National Press Photographers Association, the Office of the Texas Governor – Barbara Jordan Media Award, the Houston Press Club, the Associated Press, and the Dallas Press Club.
